Purpose of the position
We are seeking an experienced Product Development Manager to join our Specialities Category within the Research and Development (R&D) team. This pivotal international role involves collaborating with product category teams to develop and manage the creation of new snacking products across our brands. You’ll work closely in multi-functional teams across Europe to ensure our product ranges and brands stay ahead of major competitors.
Responsibilities
- Develop product categories according to consumer and customer requirements.
- Contribute to the development of annual budgets within the respective category.
- Build relationships with R&D colleagues with MU (management units) and category levels to facilitate knowledge transfer and collaboration.
- Promote the “Spirit of Innovation” across the product category.
- Partner with expert groups to develop and optimize tools and techniques for innovation.
- Collaborate with suppliers to leverage their innovation capabilities.
- Develop and deliver consumer-preferred snacks with a competitive advantage.
- Translate consumer trends into product development proposals.
- Lead production trials in collaboration with technology process experts and other R&D members.
- Manage budgeted targets, Innovation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), cost center management, and strategic resource plans.
- Support continuous improvement of products and processes to secure competitiveness and cost-effectiveness.
Education
- College/University Degree in Food Science/Technology or equivalent work experience.
Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in similar R&D roles, with previous experience in New Product Development management and process.
- Experience in developing both brands and retailer brands.
- Financial/numerical aptitude and experience of operating at a management level within the Food Industry.
- Strong analytical ability, time management skills, and experience in coaching to develop individuals/teams.
- Competitive nature with a passion for innovation and excellence.

- Within the organization: Category leaders, MU heads, Process & Technology experts, Product developers in R&D, Marketing teams, Seasonings team, Engineering, Site leaders, and Quality teams.
- Outside the organization: Flavour houses, Product research agencies, Ingredients suppliers, Exhibitions.
Willing to travel – expected level of travel of this position is 50% / week.
