Nijhuis Industries
Climate change and the continuous population growth are key contributing factors to clean water shortage worldwide. One way to mitigate the rise of water scarcity is by improving the efficiency of wastewater treatment process and the possibility for water reuse and nutrient recovery.
To this purpose, Nijhuis Saur Industries is currently developing several technologies for valorisation of household residual waters: Black water and greywater. In addition, we investigate the use of rainwater as source for decentralized drinking water production. Several demonstration projects are in operation and the first full-scale projects are under construction.
Your goal
Your goal is to evaluate the performance and efficiency of decentralized water treatment systems, focusing on rainwater, black water, and grey water. By collecting and analyzing data from various demonstration and pilot projects, you will:
- Assess the mass and energy balances of these systems and compare them to their design values.
- Identify opportunities for improving treatment capacity, energy use, and chemical consumption.
- Investigate user acceptance to ensure practical and sustainable implementation.
To achieve this, you will consolidate project data, conduct sample analyses in our laboratory, and perform supporting activities in ongoing projects to provide a well-rounded evaluation.
Who are you?
- Enrolled in a Dutch BSc or MSc Environmental study.
- Available for an internship for a minimal period of 4 months.
- Flexible and independent.
